Brian Namey, Chief Public Affairs Officer from NACo gave an overview of the NACo
member benefits. He discussed NACo's mission, vision and priorities. Mr. Namey
pointed out the numerous programs including the Online Resource Hub, Opioid
Solutions, Mental Health First Aid, NACo County Tech Exchange, Cybersecurity for
Counties, the Prescription Drug Discount Program and iCivics which can be used in
classrooms. Many of these resources have been used by our Technology department. Mr.
Namey invited all Board Members to attend the 2023 NACo Annual Conference in
Travis County, Austin, Texas taking place July 21 through July 24. Member Rutledge
also recommended Board Members to attend.
Mary Keating, Director of Community Services, asked Brian Namey to speak about
NACo's Large Urban Caucus and also encouraged Board Members to take part.
Joe McCoy, Executive Director from ISACo spoke on the relationship between NACo
and ISACo as well as how they are set up to work together quickly at the state and federal
level when legislation is moving quickly. Chair DeSart thanked Mr. McCoy for his
responsiveness.
