CHAIRWOMAN'S REMARKS - CHAIR COVERT  
Today's meeting continues the discussion of the draft DuPage County Strategic Plan from March  
5, which concluded with a request from committee members that public safety language be  
added to the Fiscal Responsibility and Safe Communities Strategic Priorities. BerryDunn  
consultants and County staff, with input from State's Attorney Robert Berlin and County Board  
Chair Deborah Conroy, subsequently added the language that currently appears under Objective  
1 of the Fiscal Responsibility Priority and Objective 1 under the Safe Communities priority.  
Chair Covert noted that since then there have been additional changes which will be considered  
today under a motion to amend the draft plan.

OTHER ACTION ITEM  
MOTION TO AMEND SP-R-0001-24  
Member Krajewski introduced the following three proposed amendments to the draft Plan:  
(1) Under the Thriving Economy strategic priority, add the following: "Support initiatives that  
promote the arts, sporting, and cultural events to help drive economic and social capital. These  
initiatives will build new local revenue streams and elevate the County on a national level";  
(2) Under the Safe Community strategic priority, amend Objective 1 by adding "policies  
mandating secure gun storage";  
(3) Under the Fiscal Responsibility strategic priority, amend Objective 1 by deleting "as it relates  
to public safety."  
Following a discussion of the proposed amendments, a motion was taken to amend the draft Plan  
as proposed. Member Krajewski so moved, Member Yoo seconded. Motion approved upon roll  
call vote, all ayes.

Chair Covert entertained a motion to approve resolution SP-R-0001-24 as amended.
